About The Course
Unlock the World of Coding and Creativity with Minecraft Education Edition! Join us for a unique learning adventure where your child will learn fundamental computer science concepts and build amazing structures in the world’s favorite block-building game.
Students will learn fundamental coding concepts such as loops, conditionals, and functions, while using the popular game as a platform for learning. Our expert instructors will guide students through interactive lessons and projects, challenging them to solve problems, think critically, and work collaboratively to complete various Minecraft missions. Students will not only gain programming skills, but they will also have the opportunity to create their own mods, designs, and custom game mechanics in Minecraft, which allows them to express their creativity in a fun and engaging way.
Course Details
Target Participant Ages – 7 to 10
Course Length – 4 weeks/session
Schedule – One session per week, each session will be 55 minutes
No prior experience is necessary, but students should be comfortable with learning basic computer skills such as using a keyboard and mouse.
What Students will learn
- Understanding the basics of programming through block-based coding
- Building structures and objects in Minecraft using Codeblocks
- Developing problem-solving and logical thinking skills
- Exploring computer science concepts such as loops, conditions, functions and variables
- Collaborating with other learners to build and code Minecraft projects
Key topics we will cover
Week 1: Pool Party
- Introduction to Code Builder in Minecraft Education Edition
- Building a basic swimming pool using the fill block
- Customizing pool shape and size with code
Week 3: Agent Adventures
- Introduction to the Agent in Minecraft
- Basic Agent movements and building structures using codeblocks
- Advanced Agent usage including pathfinding and inventory management
Week 2: More Building Blocks
- Review of fill blocks and conditional statements
- Introduction to loops for efficient building
- Building houses and structures using spawn blocks and loops
Week 4: cool tricks and final project
- Introduction to some fun Easter eggs in Minecraft
- Combining all concepts learned in previous weeks to complete a final project
- Reflection on learning outcomes and future applications of Minecraft coding
